2016 is nearly gone, and while many of us are wrapping up the holiday season, and now busy making plans for New Years Eve, this is actually the best time to regroup and refocus to greet 2017 in the best way possible, and welcome wealth into your life.
We have to start by asking ourselves what our goals are for next year. Whether we want to be van-dwellers or thrive in corporate America, most of us will have financial motivations of some sort. So if you want to actually bring those goals to fruition, and welcome a little (or a lot) of wealth into your life in 2017, here are 5 ways you can get the job done.
1. Don’t forget to work for your dreams.
Chasing your passion and making it your life’s work isn’t some head-in-the-clouds dream. The truth is that if you really want to start making money, then you need to do something that you are truly passionate about. Without the passion, it’ll be difficult or near impossible to reach your full potential, earning and personal wise.
Let go of feeling that your passion has to be something in a highly paid field. Tune out what society has told you means success and wealth. Stop comparing yourself to your friends and peers. And then dig deep. Ask yourself what success means to you. Ask yourself what wealth looks like to you. And then, find it in yourself to focus on doing what you truly love, and what you are sincerely passionate about.
Really take the time to ask yourself what you can see yourself becoming obsessed with. Putting your heart and soul into something is the key to true success, which can then lead you to real wealth, and I’m not just talking about money. Because lasting wealth is never just about money. It’s about happiness. Do this, and I think you’ll be surprised what opportunities come knocking on your door.
2. Dream big, but start small, taking one step at a time.
When you’re passion about something, you want it to start sooner than later. We all want big success and fast, but just like the little things in life, it’s better to go slowly and enjoy the ride. Optimize your process first before you try to go big. Start small. Learn. Grow. Work your way up. Good things take time, and as long as you’re putting one foot in front of the other, you’ll get there. Don’t forget that you should also be proud of yourself every step of the way; every failure; every success; it’s all leading you to where you want to be, even when you can’t quite see where that is yet.
3. Give to others instead of yourself.
Material objects are nice, but do you want to know what is infinitely more rewarding and fulfilling? Donating to charity. Donating your time to a friend who needs help starting their business. People get so wrapped up in thinking wealth is just about money. But you have to remember that true and lasting wealth is not just about having money, but inner peace too. Giving back to others is an easy step that can leave you feeling successful, established, wealthy, and happy-hearted.
4. Get healthy. Get moving.
Believe me. I’m someone who would rather cuddle my dog on the couch, eat chicken nuggets, and binge watch every Netflix series in existence. But I also know that I feel so much better when I get up and move. This next year one of my personal goals is to start focusing on my health, and that includes fitness of some sort. I actually just did my first crossfit workout last week, and I was nearly in disbelief how much better I felt afterward, even with the lingering soreness.
So yes, I know it sounds a little cheesy, redundant, and probably the last thing you want to hear, but health truly is the greatest form of wealth. No amount of success or money will matter if you are too sick (or dead) to enjoy it. It’s okay to work hard, but your mental well-being, health, and body can’t be forgotten about. It’s our vessel to do amazing things in this life, we must take care of it.
5. Never stop learning… and do it online.
In this day and age, learning has never been easier thanks to the internet. We quite actually have a wealth of knowledge at our fingertips 24/7. Almost everything you could need or want to learn is online. People always ask me where I learned how to blog. My answer? Online. If I wanted to tinker with some coding on my blog to change the look a bit, I googled how.
The internet truly is an amazing tool, if we use it to be productive. It’s also extremely easy to get distracted online with social sites like Facebook. But stay focused. Remember what’s important. And most importantly, get excited! We are all so lucky to have the internet to learn something new essentially every day if we wanted. This is an opportunity that should be taken advantage of, especially when it comes to chasing your passion and building wealth in your life.
If you want 2017 to be the year you find wealth and success, just decide that it’s going to be. Manifest it and do your part to make it happen. Study, prepare, use the internet. Regardless of your age or where you are at in life, this is only the beginning for you, and it’s only the beginning of your success.
I wish you wealth in happiness. I wish you wealth in health. I wish you wealth in money, and I wish you wealth in all of your endeavors in 2017, whatever that may look like. Remember to listen to your heart and trust the process. The new year is right around the corner so don’t waste this opportunity. And if you ever feel alone in the process, remember that I’ll be standing in your corner all year long cheering you on.
